Volunteer
Prospect Ridge Academy welcomes and relies on our volunteers! Volunteering your time, expertise and energy are vital to PRA, and there are numerous opportunities for getting involved. Whether you have a passion for working directly with students during field trips, assisting teachers in the classroom, supporting special events, or lending a hand with administrative tasks, there is a perfect role for you. By dedicating a portion of your day, volunteering on weekends, or making an ongoing commitment, you can help shape the academic, social, and ethical development of our students.
As part of the charter community we recommend that each family dedicate 30 hours to volunteer in some capacity per school year (this includes student volunteer hours).

Did you know that students whose parents/guardians are involved in their school generally earn higher grades, score better on tests, adapt more easily to school, and graduate at a higher rate? Volunteering is also good for your physical and mental wellbeing! What better reasons could there be for choosing to volunteer today?
No matter how much time you have to give, we deeply appreciate your contributions.
Annual Online Volunteer Training
All adult PRA volunteers (K-12) must complete an online training and application process annually in order to volunteer in any capacity. The application process includes:
Watching a volunteer training video
Completing an online quiz (certificate of completion will be emailed to you)
Filling out a field trip chaperone commitment form (certificate of completion will be emailed to you)
Completing the RAPTOR volunteer application (including a $6 background check run by entering your social security number).
Once approved, your volunteer training will be good for one year. 30 days prior to the expiration of your volunteer training, you will receive a reminder email with a link to renew.
It is highly recommended that you complete the training process at least three weeks before you plan on volunteering to ensure that your background check will have sufficient time to process.
If you are not active in the system by the time of the volunteer event, even if you have completed all of the required steps (i.e. your application is still processing) you will not be allowed to volunteer for the event.
It is highly recommended that you complete all of the training on a computer and not a mobile device as there have been some issues with the Raptor application freezing on mobile devices.
Recommended internet browsers: Internet Explorer and Google Chrome.
Please make sure that you input your name, address, and SSN into the Raptor system correctly as this could result in the need to resubmit your application and an additional charge of $6.
